With the goal of helping customers thrive, PFG markets and delivers quality food and related products to independent and chain restaurants, schools, business and industry locations, convenience operations, healthcare facilities, vending distributors, office coffee service distributors, big box retailers, and theaters across the U.S.Job DescriptionThe Sr. Tax & Accounting Coordinator will be responsible for providing general administrative and support services to the Tax Department, as well as assisting with basic accounting responsibilities. This is an hourly role with a hybrid work schedule that will assist management in ensuring compliance with all tax filing deadlines.
Key Position Responsibilities Include:
- Support team members with tax compliance as needed.
- Compose internal and external correspondence as needed.
- Monitor, update, and maintain the Department's tax return due date list.
- Electronically file local sales tax returns, as assigned.
- Prepare and file ancillary informational filings as assigned.
- Generate monthly sales reports for compliance filings.
- Assist with open items on the monthly tax bank account reconciliation.
- Communicate monthly ACH tax payment details to Treasury.
- Interact with taxing jurisdictions to resolve notices, update account contact information, and address other issues as they arise.
- Coordinate document notarization and authorized signatories as needed.
- Ensure all sales tax licenses are current and accurate. Apply for new and renew existing sales & use tax licenses and B&O tax licenses as needed. Maintain all sales tax licenses in the license database.
- Identify unclaimed property refund opportunities and submit refund claims. This includes searching online for refund opportunities, obtaining the necessary backup documentation, filing claims, tracking claim status, and periodically following up on outstanding claims.
- Monitor the department's office supplies and place orders as needed.
- Perform day to day administration tasks.
- Other projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications• 3+ years in an administrative capacity, with tax or accounting operations preferred.
• Two-year degree, preferably in Accounting.
• Excellent phone etiquette with a customer service attitude.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel).
• Ability to handle strict regulatory deadlines and work in a fast paced, demanding environment.
• Strong attention to detail with precise follow-through.
• Must be organized and able to work independently.
• Remain calm under pressure with a common sense and flexible approach to situations.
• Basic understanding of accounting preferred.
