Position:The Accounting Manager works closely with managers and leadership throughout their OpCo (Operating Company, Distribution Center) as well as Corporate Vistar on a regular basis to discuss, understand and review accounting and financial performance and results for their OpCo. The Accounting Manager will need to be able to interpret, evaluate and explain financial material within the Profit & Loss (P&L) Statement, Balance Sheet (B/S) and other various financial reports. They prepare and submit analytics and reports to various levels of the organization.Functions as a team member within the department and organization as required and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company. The Accounting Manager reports directly to the Area Accounting Manager.Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
Manages Accounting and Finance duties and responsibilities for OpCo. At times, may need to assist in cross-training, knowledge sharing and coverage for other OpCos.
Manages associates to include, but not limited to, staffing, training, coaching, performance management and problem resolution. Currently will manage 2 hourly Accounting staff.
Partners with General Ledger Accounting and Internal Audit to ensure OpCo Accounting and Finance processes and related transactions adhere to financial policies and internal controls for completeness and accuracy. Including, but not limited to, inventory shrink, AP debits, receipts not invoiced (RNI), payroll, expense accruals, etc.
Oversees month-end analysis, review, reporting and financial results for OpCo.
Reviews P&L, B/S and other various financial reports for accuracy and completeness, with oversight to journal entries and reconciliations impacting the OpCo.
Partners with Financial Planning and Analysis on the development of annual budgets and monthly forecasts; adding insight and makingappropriate recommendations.
Administers meetings and discussions with various levels of staff from team discussions and training, cross functional dept coordination, to executive review with OpCo President and Corporate Management as required.
Ensures all accounting and financial reports are properly prepared and all related transactions are processed on a timely basis and within deadlines.
Works to ensure that OpCo and Vistar are Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliant.
