Analyst, Pricing & Margin
Compensation: Starting Range $53,600 - $72,000 depending on experience
Location: Onsite - Portland, OR (Relocation is not offered)

Position Summary
The Analyst, Pricing & Margin plays a critical role in protecting and expanding profitability across a complex, high-volume, broadline food distribution business. This highly analytical role focuses on pricing execution, cost volatility management, and margin visibility across thousands of SKUs spanning center-of-plate (COP), dry grocery, frozen, dairy, produce, and non-food categories.
Partnering closely with Sales, Procurement, Finance, and Operations, the Analyst ensures pricing decisions accurately reflect vendor costs, freight and fuel impacts, rebate programs, and service-level economics-while remaining competitive in a highly price-sensitive market.
This position requires strong technical and analytical capabilities, including the ability to manipulate large datasets across multiple systems. The Analyst will develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) that enhance business visibility, support pricing strategy, and drive profitability across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Pricing & Margin Management
  • Analyze and maintain customer-specific and tiered pricing across a broad SKU portfolio
  • Support rapid price updates driven by vendor cost changes, commodity volatility, and freight/fuel surcharges
  • Ensure pricing execution aligns with margin targets, category strategies, and competitive benchmarks
  • Assist with pricing for new item introductions, substitutions, and brand expansion initiatives
Profitability & Performance Analysis
  • Monitor gross margin performance by customer, category, SKU, and sales channel
  • Conduct route-level and customer-level profitability analysis within a delivery-driven cost structure
  • Identify margin leakage related to cost lag, discounting, spoilage, freight, and service intensity
  • Support margin recovery initiatives and continuous pricing improvement efforts
Rebates, Incentives & Compliance
  • Serve as administrator for Local Earned Income (LEI) using Vistex
  • Track, reconcile, and validate vendor rebates, bill-backs, and incentive programs
  • Partner with Procurement and Finance to ensure rebate assumptions are accurately reflected in pricing and margin reporting
  • Analyze vendor program ROI and recommend improvements to maximize profitability
Cross-Functional Support & Reporting
  • Provide pricing guidance and deal analysis for contract bids, renewals, and large accounts
  • Support Sales with customer profitability insights and pricing recommendations
  • Help drive pricing discipline and consistency across the Sales organization
  • Define and maintain data management standards for accurate and consistent reporting, including:
    • Profit & Loss
    • Pricing accuracy
    • Rebate and incentive tracking
    • Line-item cross-references
    • Compliance reporting
  • Create, maintain, and enhance reports, dashboards, and documentation
  • Deliver clear, actionable insights to Finance, Sales, Procurement, and Senior Leadership
  • Learn new data structures and contribute to the design of reporting tables
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field
  • 2 years of experience in an analytical role supporting multiple business partners
  • Demonstrated experience performing data-driven analysis and manipulating large datasets
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience querying data from multiple ERP systems
  • Familiarity with AS400-based systems
  • Experience with Power BI

• Experience with querying data from a multiple ERP
strongly preferred
• Experience with AS400 based systems and PowerBI a plus
