Position Summary:
Responsible for assisting the Logistics Manager in effectively managing the entire daily operations of inbound logistics in order to acquire control of inbound freight at less than delivered price to enhance bottom line income for the company. Solves freight problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where some standardization exists. Analyzes work-related situations and make decisions in an effective and timely manner. Answers questions and solves issues based on extensive logistics and company specific knowledge. May assist with training. Communicates and interacts with vendors and coworkers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Work with Logistics Manager to negotiate lowest freight costs without reducing service level.
  • Conduct vendor reviews to update freight rate, correct warehouse pick up location details, etc.; manage drop ship invoices.
  • Identify backhaul pickups that do not meet the minimum requirement for revenue; identify loads to be moved by contract carriage.
  • Updates the Logistics Pipeline form; generate period-end revenue report.
  • Monitor accepted loads and verify that the loads were delivered on time; monitor fuel rates.
  • Audit carriers' freight bills to insure they agree with carriers' confirmations. Coordinate with Accounting to file vendor charge-backs to orders with volumes that have been confirmed but not shipped by managed vendor.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Education: High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience
Required Experience: Minimum 2 years experience and/or any equivalent combination of education, training

Preferred qualifications:

Preferred Education: Associates degree in related area
Preferred Experience: 4 5 years Logistics / transportation, administrative support experience in related area within foodservice industry.
